PakMeng Beach is included in the Chao Mai Marine National Park, founded on the 1983 by the Thai governament. For this reason, at the moment, the area is still relatively untouched.
Pak Meng is about 4 kms long beach, the Village is on the south part and it extend for only 2 kms, at north there is the PakMeng Pier, where every day long tails (the most common fishing boat in the area) leave to reach Koh Ngai, Koh Mook or Koh Kradan full of Thai and Foreigner tourists. The pier is located in a mangrove forest where the sea meet the river, so the fauna is reach of fish and is not rare to meet some eagles, crew and much more. Many people transit every day in the pier to starting a snorkel or diving day trip around the islands. Near the pier there are many small huts, the fisherman houses, with their fishing nets full of fish. Only in the last two years this area start to develop and open to the tourism but the process is quite slow. Probably in the future Pak Meng Beach will became the second Ao Nang Beach (Krabi), with nightlife and million of resorts, but at the moment it is the perfect place for people who love the nature and the relax. Just south of PakMeng Village there are 5 kms of white sand beaches, nice for make a pic nic or relax and take sun.
